Normally you get a lifetime achievement award when you reach the end of your formidable career. But film star Nicole Kidman (56) has already received such an award.

The special award was presented by the American Film Institute during their annual awards gala. Kidman will probably remain active as an actress for years to come. But her career is already so impressive that the organization believes the award is more than justified.

In 1983, Kidman made his debut in the holiday film as a 16-year-old BushChristmas. A year later she had to take a break from acting because her mother had breast cancer. A selection of her greatest successes: Eyes wide shut, Moulin rouge, The hours, Dogville and Cold mountain.

It is the first time that the American award has gone to an Australian actress. Kidman definitely wanted to enjoy the award with the whole family. Not only her husband Keith Urban, sister Antonia and niece Sybella went to Los Angeles, daughters Sunday Rose (15) and Faith Margaret (13) were also present on the red carpet. An exceptional moment, because years ago Kidman said that she wanted to keep her daughters out of the spotlight. The apple does not fall far from the tree, because her daughters follow in their mother’s footsteps: Sunday and Faith were seen in The angry birds movie 2, Big little lies and The undoing.

Many celebrities were also present to celebrate Kidman. Think of Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts and Morgan Freeman. Streep presented the award to her co-star from the series Big little lies.
