On Thursday, May 16, author Raf Van Bedts will present his book ‘The (un)happy single’ in the Moerbeke-Waas library.

In his book, Van Bedts, who has been single for 25 years, outlines the challenges and disadvantages that single people face. “In Lokeren and Moerbeke, more than 8,400 single people live without children living at home. Yet society remains geared towards families with children and presents its highest bills to single people. Raf shatters the clichés and prejudices, but he also provides solutions so that singles are not treated unequally,” says Moerbeek’s councilor Sarah Poppe (Local Liberal).

READ ALSO. Raf (53) has been happily single for 25 years, but also expresses criticism: “No OECD country taxes singles more than Belgium”

“One in three Flemish households consists of someone who is searching, divorced, widowed or consciously alone. So it is a life form that you may have to deal with sooner or later. That is why it is interesting for everyone to come and listen to this story,” adds representative Robby De Caluwé (Open VLD). De Caluwé previously advocated in parliament the many challenges that single people face.

The book presentation is free. The book will subsequently be offered for sale and the author will organize a signing session. The performance starts at 7:30 PM in the Moerbeke library, Statiestraat 4.
