On Easter Monday, April 1, the emergency center received a report at night of a seriously injured woman in an apartment on the Aarschotbaan in Beerzel, a busy connecting road between Heist-op-den-Berg and Berlaar-Heikant. The emergency services could only determine the woman’s death.

Maria G. (43), a woman of Slovak descent, appeared to have been killed with several stab wounds. There was no trace of her husband Ali G. (62), a man of Turkish descent, but with Dutch nationality, at that time. It turned out that he fled in his car. The car was immediately signaled and successfully: a short time later a police team was able to intercept the car on a highway near Ulvenhout in the Netherlands, not so far from the Belgian border.

Ali was arrested and has been in a Dutch prison ever since. Our country immediately requested the man’s surrender. He is said to have agreed to this during a hearing in a court in the Netherlands on Friday morning.

Shortly after the facts in Beerzel, some sources confirmed that Ali G. had suspicions that his wife was committing adultery

Declaration

Normally he would be extradited to our country within ten days and locked up in a Belgian cell. “And from that moment on we will also be able to make a statement to the investigators of the facts,” lawyer Cédric Monheim responds to Ali G.’s decision to come to our country.

The criminal lawyer does not want to say anything about what exactly happened and why the man allegedly killed Maria G.. Shortly after the facts in Beerzel, some sources confirmed that Ali had suspicions that his wife was committing adultery. Whether this is true will only become clear when the man is interrogated in our country.

Facebook

It has been established that a few hours before the fatal stabbing, he posted some disturbing messages in Turkish on his Facebook profile. He wrote, among other things, ‘Remember, you are guided to what you deserve’ and ‘Now everyone must think about what happened and what happened to us’. As if he was announcing the murder of his wife.

The couple had two children and had not lived in the Beerzel apartment for very long. The children were said to have been home at the time of the stabbing, but were unharmed. No one will confirm whether they also witnessed the incident.

Normal procedure

Once the man has been surrendered, the normal judicial procedure in our country follows. He will then be brought before the investigating judge who will decide on his arrest. If Ali G. is arrested, he will have to appear before the council chamber within five days.

Normally, the man will be handed over by the Dutch police to Belgian investigators during the course of next week, at the latest on May 13.
