The use of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular in everyday life and in the workplace. Google developed Gemini to compete with OpenAI’s widely used ChatGPT. How much do these tools actually vary? Digital Newsgroup maps out the most important differences.
Gemini
Google’s Gemini is artificial intelligence based on an AI model. You can send commands or talk to Gemini. There is both a free and paid version of the chatbot. In addition, Gemini is multimedia: the tool can handle text as well as images, audio and video. Google’s tool is in full development and regularly releases new updates. Also for Dutch users it will soon be possible to search your own Gmail and Google Drive using Gemini. This will soon make Google Gemini your virtual personal assistant, saving you a lot of time.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT is undoubtedly the best known and, above all, the most used chat AI tool. OpenAI’s tool now has 180.5 million active users. Moreover, ChatGPT has been used for over a year, so OpenAI has already had a lot of time to tinker with their chatbot. This adds many ways to use ChatGPT. This includes generating content, translating words or texts or collecting information.
Gemini vs. ChatGPT
- ChatGPT is often used to generate texts, while Gemini is multimedia and can also answer questions in an informative way
- Google feels more responsibility for its users and is therefore cautious about new developments compared to OpenAI
