Erik Van Looy is a strong supporter of Royal Antwerp FC. He doesn’t like violence, but the presenter already had to deal with a hooligan.

Besides film, Royal Antwerp FC is Erik van Looy’s great passion. The television presenter was a guest of Ruben Van Gucht in ‘De Weekwatchers’ on Radio 2 and said that he once came into contact with a hooligan.

Van Looy explained in detail how that happened. “Some of my friends from the past were hooligans,” says Van Looy, something he couldn’t really live with. “I am so against violence. I can’t imagine succeeding anyone.”

However, Van Looy got into a fight with a hooligan who approached him out of nowhere and said that he would “kick his ass.” Van Looy did not immediately know what to do to get out of a fight.

The smartest person

“Yes, then you know a fight is coming. I tried to walk, but found myself standing in front of a closed gate. What I immediately thought of: man, ‘The Smartest Person’ is busy, he shouldn’t hit me in the face.”

Van Looy then chose to turn around and lie flat on the ground. “And then he stomped again and then he stopped. Because he probably thought: this is not a fight,” he concludes.
