During the semi-final of the Conference League Fiorentina-Club Brugge in Florence, hooligans from Club Brugge beat up a supporter of the same club. The man was taken to hospital. He broke his nose and eye socket. But how did the fight between supporters of the same team arise?
The man, together with about fifty other Club Brugge supporters, had bought a ticket for Fiorentina’s home section because Club Brugge’s away section was already full. To get into the stadium without any problems, he bought a scarf from the home team Fiorentina. “Everything went smoothly without incident, but when the match was 20 minutes into the match, the Fiorentina stewards moved us to Club Brugge’s away section. I still had my Fiorentina scarf on and that’s why the hooligans beat me up,” he testifies. “I was taken away by ambulance and now have a broken eye socket and nose.”
Club Brugge itself does not wish to comment on the incident. We also received no response from the supporters’ clubs.
Report to the police
Today the man is on his way by car from Florence to Belgium. “Tomorrow I will go to the police station and file a complaint against the hooligans. Even if they support the same club, violence is really not allowed.” The victim knows who the attackers are, they already have a notorious reputation in the club.
