For eternal glory, but not for the money. A final place in the Conference League could soon earn Club Brugge 3 million euros. That’s about as much as… a win in the group stage of the Champions League.

Of course the Conference League is alive: it has been since 1993 that a Belgian club reached a European final. But if it works, Club Brugge will not become astronomically rich.

Almost 12 million euros in income

3 million euros: that is the bonus if blue-black manages to eliminate Fiorentina in the semi-finals. 200,000 euros more than what a victory in the group stage of the Champions League yielded this year. Or 6.6 million euros less than what the 1/8th final against Benfica raised during last year’s Champions League. For comparison: for a final place in the Champions League this year 15.5 million will be paid out, in the Europa League this is 4.6 million euros.

The current campaign currently raised approximately €11.7 million. This does not yet include television money. Those money are always welcome, but they are small compared to what the European adventure brought in last season. Club was then allowed to add a total of almost 50 million euros – income from home matches included.
