Listening figures 20-49 years: Qmusic remains 1, Radio 538 continues to rise

--

Qmusic was also the most popular radio station in April of this year among the 20-49 age group most important for advertisers. This is evident from figures from the NMO Listening Survey. Radio 538 has managed to maintain its upward trend, while Radio 10 and Radio Veronica are once again declining significantly compared to last year.

In April, Qmusic (Mon-Sun, 6am-midnight) achieved a market share of 22.4%. This is an increase of 2.1 percentage points compared to April 2023. However, compared to March 2024, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points can be seen.

Radio 538 is again in second place with 13.4%. Compared to the same period last year, the market share has increased by 3.9 percentage points. And there is also a slight increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to March this year. The new morning show with Tim Klijn, Rick Romijn, Niels van Baarlen and Florentien van der Meulen and the Friday afternoon show by Edwin Evers have clearly done the station no harm.

NPO Radio 2 and Radio 10
Third place goes to NPO Radio 2. The public music channel accounted for a 13.0% market share among 20-49 year olds in April. This is a decrease of 1.2 percentage points compared to a year ago, but an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to March.

This time too, Radio 10 is one of the big losers. In April, the channel had a 12.1% market share, a decline of 3.6 percentage points in one year. The arrival of Joe has put Radio 10 under considerable pressure and the announced departure of morning jock Gerard Ekdom is also a setback for 10. The positive news is that the market share has increased by 0.6 percentage points compared to March.

Sky Radio, Joe and Veronica
Sky Radio accounted for 6.5% market share in April. This is a loss of 1.2 percentage points compared to April 2023. And also compared to March this year, there is a minus of 0.6 percentage points. Joe, which broadcasts on the old FM frequencies of Radio 10, achieved a 4.7% market share in April. Compared to March this year, the station has fallen by 0.4 percentage points.

Radio Veronica is the other big loser besides 10. The station had a 2.2% market share in April, a decrease of 2.8 percentage points compared to a year ago. Compared to March, the market share has remained virtually the same. For the radio station it is hoped that the start of Wouter van der Goes and Frank van ‘t Hof at the beginning of June and the arrival of Gerard Ekdom later this year will turn the tide.

Friday afternoon
The battle between Qmusic and Radio 538 continues unabated on Friday afternoon. The Top 40 with Domien Verschuuren is still by far the most popular with a 23.0% market share among the commercial target group 20-49 years old. This is an increase of 2.3% compared to April 2023 and an increase of one percentage point compared to March 2024.
