New films are being worked on Lord of the Ringsfranchise. Warner Bros. has that. announced. The first new film with the name The Hunt for Gollum is expected in 2026.
The news about the return of Lord of the Rings was announced Thursday by David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery announced during an earnings call. The film studio thus confirms previous reports about this. Peter Jackson, creator of the original trilogy, is involved in the project as a producer, but will not be directing this time.

Warner Bros. charges for the screenplay. again on Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who were also involved in the original films. They get the help of Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. The first one is Boyens’ daughter and had both Lord of the Rings as The Hobbit a small cameo.
It is not yet known what exactly these new films will be about. “We will explore storylines that have not yet been told,” Zaslav said. The working title of the first new film is Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. That reports Variety. Andy Serkis has been appointed as director. He will also play Gollum again.
