A lifeless body was found at the Rivierenhof in Deurne on Thursday. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the victim’s death.
Some passers-by alerted the emergency services around 3 p.m. because a man was lying on the ground in Collegelaan, under the bridge of the E34 highway, at Rivierenhof in Deurne. According to eyewitnesses, the man was lying next to a bicycle with different clothes next to him. The Antwerp police arrived on the scene and found that the man was no longer showing any signs of life.
“Our teams immediately started resuscitation while awaiting medical services, but unfortunately no further assistance was available to the victim,” says spokesperson Wouter Bruyns of the Antwerp police. Fire Department Zone Antwerp placed a tent to hide the body from the view of passers-by.
It is still unclear how the man died. According to initial findings, there are no signs of violence. The death is considered suspicious, the forensic laboratory and a medical examiner arrive on the scene to investigate the precise cause of death.
