Television maker Luk Alloo interviews a politician every day for Gazet van Antwerpen until election day, 33 in total. Today it is the turn of Green co-chair Nadia Naji. “I see myself as a minister, especially in Education and Welfare,” Naji admits.

300 billion euros
Suppose you were suddenly allowed to spend a bag of money worth 300 billion euros? “That everyone can go to school for free, that there is a teacher for every class and that the waiting lists in the nurseries have been eliminated.”

Last year you said that “Vooruit is crying along with Vlaams Belang”. Do you regret the harshness of that quote? “No, I mean that and I still see it now. They have adopted views in a lighter form.”

If you weren’t a politician, what were you? “Teacher. I still taught and really enjoyed it. I would also like to be Minister of Education.”

Why did you get into politics? “I didn’t want to do it until I was 40, but it happened ten years earlier because I now want to change things with my energy.”

Why should citizens vote for Green? “The climate challenges are extremely important for our future. In addition, we are the only party that does not support Vlaams Belang.”
