Young Socialists and Young Groen took action at the Vlaams Belang secretariat (Antwerp)

Members of Jongsocialisten and Jong Groen delivered “Fuck fascism” in front of the Vlaams Belang secretariat on the Amerikalei in Antwerp. This text was projected on the building on Tuesday evening.

The activists of these youth sections say they are concerned about the growth of Vlaams Belang.

“It is our job as progressive youth movements to continue the fight against fascism and to involve the youth in this,” say Jongsocialisten chairman Milan Bronckars and Groen Antwerpen chairman Laura Spruyt.

The action was also filmed by the surveillance camera at the Vlaams Belang secretariat. The party turned these images over to the police and filed a complaint for vandalism.

“This action is insulting and is the result of the ‘one against all’ campaign conducted by the traditional parties against Vlaams Belang,” says Filip Dewinter, Antwerp Vlaams Belang party leader. “Debate is good and necessary, but let’s keep it correct and non-violent. The graffiti messages with ‘Fuck Fascism’ are only intended to provoke and provoke a reaction, after which the accusing finger can once again be pointed at Vlaams Belang.” (svw)
