“It is either MR or PS at the head of the Brussels Region,” the chairman of the Brussels PS federation Ahmed Laaouej said on Wednesday on the occasion of Labor Day. “If it is MR, then it will be austerity with all the social consequences that entails,” he warned during a meeting on May 1 that focused on the ongoing election campaign.

Not the blue that covers the sky on beautiful summer mornings, with a few rays of sunshine; the cold blue of austerity, the cold blue of wage index jumps and heavy cuts in healthcare; the selfish blue that increased VAT on gas and electricity from 6 to 21 percent, fortunately reduced to 6 percent by the Socialists,” he stated.
For Ahmed Laaouej, the policies of the French-speaking liberals will lead to regression, repeated attacks on public services, hospitals, public transport and the privatization of Brussels Proprietary. “There is no doubt that they also want to target STIB, where they also want to abolish free STIB for young and old, to restore the privileges of the rich, with an unbearable survival of the fittest,” he added.
