The case is that many people want a tablet, but the only advantage is that it has a larger screen and a long battery life of often 10+ hours. And for that you pay approximately the price of a phone that you already have…. A tablet is unfortunately not much more powerful than a mobile phone (in the Android segment) and does not offer the same functionality as a laptop/PC or a fully mobile that you would want for the price.

This makes tablets the only people that appeal to
1. Don’t have a laptop and want a little more screen (and don’t know about the functionality of a laptop/computer, “Ignorance is bliss”)
2. Have an old laptop/PC and use it as a glorified browser machine
3. Children who do not need a PC/laptop and are not yet allowed to use a mobile phone
4. People who want a cheap gadget, often want it cheap

This actually appeals to the only people who do not want to use/or have not yet used a laptop or computer. The solutions for the negative points I gave are often too expensive.

For the screen size: All folding mobile phones that become a mini tablet (see Samsung & OnePlus

For power: Microsoft Surface books (& Asus ROG Flow laptops, but these are often a bit too much of a good thing and a bit too niche)

So tablets are actually made unnecessary because they are not among the laptops/mobile phones with power and functionality that is necessary if this type of product wants to exist.
