Podcast maker Alix Summer meets Josie Fair during her 45th birthday party at a restaurant. Coincidentally, Josie’s birthday is on the same day and it turns out they are the same age. A few days later, Josie and Alix ‘coincidentally’ meet again. They start talking and Josie thinks she has an interesting story for Alix’s podcast. Alix slowly discovers Josie’s secrets and Josie intrudes more and more into her life. Who exactly is Josie Fair and what has she done?

Nothing is true is a book that grabs you right from the start and that you cannot put down until you have finished it. The story starts quickly, so you quickly get into the story. Between the chapters of Nothing is true through, you will read some transcripts from a Netflix documentary. This gives you more and more information and you discover that something terrible has happened. But what happened and who did this? This also makes you want to keep reading and find out what happened. In addition, Lisa Jewell has a nice and very smooth writing style, which makes it extremely difficult to Nothing is true to put away.

The main characters in Nothing is true, Alix and Josie, get to know you well. Through the interviews for the podcast, you get to know Josie better and you start to wonder more and more about what really happens. Does Josie really have such a difficult life as she tells? Is there another side to the story and what is the other side? It’s amazing how Lisa Jewell gives just a little bit of information every time, but still manages to write a surprising plot. After reading Nothing is true you might want to read it again, to find out what little hints you might have missed earlier.

Nothing is true would also certainly be suitable for a film and might remind you a bit of the Netflix hit series ‘Baby Reindeer’. It is almost unbelievable how Josie manages to penetrate ever deeper into the lives of Alix and her family.
