World Health Kitchen is involved in the delivery of emergency aid to Gaza by boat from Cyprus and the construction of a temporary jetty. The first ship was able to dock and unload in mid-March under the supervision of the Israeli army.

The organization says it is aware of reports that several employees have been killed in an Israeli airstrike. “This is a tragedy. Aid workers and civilians should never be targeted. Never,” said X (formerly Twitter).

Spanish star chef José Andrés, who founded World Health Kitchen after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, is shocked by the death of “several brothers and sisters. I am deeply touched and sympathize with their family and friends and with the entire WHK family .(…) They are not faceless, they are not nameless.”

Andrés calls on the Israeli government to stop “killing indiscriminately. It must stop restricting humanitarian aid, killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. Peace starts with our shared humanity.”
