One of the skiers who rode the wobbly ski lift, images of which went viral in recent days, says she is traumatized. “I’ve never had so much fear,” says Stephanie Burt (48). The woman, an experienced skier, says she will never ski in Italy again unless safety regulations are changed.

Stephanie Burt (48) spent the past week on a skiing holiday with friends in Breuil-Cervinia, Italy, at the foot of the famous Matterhorn, known in Italy as Monte Cervino. However, the mother of two literally found herself in the eye of the storm on Thursday.
The woman, who grew up in New Zealand, was riding the Cretaz chairlift with a friend when stormy winds came up. Gusts of more than 100 kilometers per hour caused the ski lift to rock back and forth violently. One container didn’t even fall over.
“Ski over my shoulder”
“I’ve never had so much fear,” Stephanie Burt (48) tells ‘Daily Mail’. “Our butts were off the chairs, we were still holding on to the bar in front of us, and we were literally swinging through the air. Luckily I was there with a friend who weighs 200 pounds. I could cling to him too. At one point my ski was hanging over my shoulder.”
The ski area operators stated that the wind blew much harder in a short time, from 20 to 30 km/h to more than 100 km/h, but emphasized that all skiers reached their destination safely.
Never to Italy again
Skier Stephanie Burt (48) thinks they are trying to downplay the incident. She swears she will never ski in Italy again if the ski resort does not change its safety regulations. “We are traumatized. I was in shock. And they say our lives would not have been in danger. It’s insane.”
