Bank-insurer KBC will shift its branch network, but that will have no consequences for employment. There are no major changes for the retail network: customers can continue to use the digital applications KBC Mobile, KBC Live and Kate, in addition to the 300 bank and 175 ATM branches. The opening hours of the bank branches will also remain the same. The branch network has been strengthened for private banking and for corporate clients. The bank reports this today.

Private individuals with movable assets or legal entities with an invested capital of more than 250,000 euros will from now on be able to contact the private banking offices. At the moment, the threshold is still 1 million euros. Together with this expansion, the number of offices for that branch will also be doubled, from fourteen to 29. From next year, wealthier customers will be able to contact 500 relationship managers in those offices.

In addition, there will also be 24 “commercial banking” branches, compared to eight today. Those activities include the “more complex needs of the self-employed, SMEs and corporate banking customers”. These customers will be able to contact more than 250 relationship managers.

KBC Belmobiel

The bank-insurer also decided to roll out the KBC Belmobiel throughout Flanders. There are currently four cars available in West Flanders for KBC employees who, by appointment, go to customers’ homes for some basic services. This concerns customers who are neither mobile nor digital. The aim is to approximately quadruple the number of cars for the whole of Flanders.

“Thanks to our digitality, we free up time to advise more customers even better”, says David Moucheron, CEO of the Belgian division. “That is why we are investing in greater accessibility of our experts and thus expanding the number of branches for Private and Commercial Banking.”

continue to grow

KBC does not fail to emphasize that these shifts will “provide career opportunities and alternatives for employees” and will not lead to redundancies. The bank-insurer also says that the changes will be implemented “with full respect for the employees and through an open and constructive dialogue with all those involved and with the social partners”.
