No new clues were found last night, a police spokeswoman said this morning. A major search with a large human chain is planned today. Previously, smaller groups searched the search area. About eight hundred people will be looking for the boy today. It is a logistical challenge to bring all the helping hands from the fire brigade, civil protection, rescue workers and the army to the scene, the spokeswoman said.

The boy walked away unnoticed from his parental home in Elm on Monday evening and has been missing ever since. Hundreds of people have been trying to find him for days. On Saturday a search was conducted in and around the water, but also on land. Traces were found, but the question is whether they were left by Arian. Research is still being conducted into this.

Surveillance camera footage shows him walking in a nearby forest after his disappearance. The boy has autism. He doesn’t speak and probably wouldn’t respond to calls from strangers. The police therefore use a modified so-called ‘silent’ strategy that was agreed with an autism expert, so that he would not be deterred by the emergency services. In addition to the silent search, fireworks have also been set off and loud music has been played, because Arian likes that. Furthermore, balloons and candy were hung on trees in the hope that he would come to them.
