The 47-year-old woman who was found dead in the Scheldt on Monday was violently killed. This is evident from the autopsy, reports the King’s Prosecutor of Tournai.

47-year-old Cathy Dubois disappeared on Saturday evening after her restaurant in the center of Tournai closed after 11:30 pm. Her partner and son went home at 10 p.m. after work at the restaurant.

On Sunday morning, the woman’s car was found at Tournai station, on the road she took to return home. Someone had emptied the fire extinguisher in it. The federal judicial police discovered traces of blood in the vehicle.

Her body was found on Monday in the Scheldt near Kain, a sub-municipality of Tournai. Traces of serious violence were found on her body that led to her death. According to the public prosecutor’s office, it is not clear where and when the violence took place. It is also not clear whether the woman was already dead when her body was thrown into the Scheldt.

A murder investigation has been opened. According to RTBF, the police have already interviewed several witnesses and suspects, but no one has been arrested yet.
