IPL-17: RCB vs LSG | de Kock, Pooran take Lucknow to competitive total against Bengaluru

Put into bat, Lucknow Super Giants started off on a positive note with both Quinton de Kock (81) and captain KL Rahul (20) put on a brisk 53 runs for the first wicket in the Indian Premier League match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru on April 2. Lucknow Super Giants finished at 181 for 5 in 20 overs.

Starting off nice, captain KL Rahul could not capitalize and was dimissed with the score at 53 in 5.3 overs. Once again Devdutt Padikkal failed to impress and was out for 6 with the score at 73.

Then de Kock and Marcus Stoinis (24) put on a 56 runs in just 5 overs to take LSG total to 129. With the quick dismissals of Stoinis and Ayush Badoni in quick succession put the brakes on LSG.

But Nicholas Pooran (40 not out off 21 balls) played a cameo towards the end to take his team to a competitive total.

For Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Glenn Maxwell (2 for 23) bowled brilliantly. Yash Dayal (1 for 24) was the other outstanding bowler. All the bowlers were expensive. ReeceTopley (1 for 39), Mohammed Siraj (1 for 47) were the other wicket-takers

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl.

After winning the toss, Faf du Plessis that his team need to ‘find answers’ to tighten things and also added that Topley is coming in place of Alzarri Joseph.

After playing as impact player in the last match, KL Rahul went out for the toss and said that his team will put up some big runs on the board and will try to defend. He further added that Yash Thakur comes in place of Mohsin Khan.
