Tholen – Both cauliflower and cucumber have been given a new fixed price at most retailers in week 13 and those prices are close to each other. Albert Heijn continues to put Galia in the spotlight with its fifth offer this year. Oranges are on sale at two supermarkets.
We continue to monitor the price developments of five fresh produce products at online retailers on a weekly basis. Below are the latest price shifts for avocado, cauliflower, Galia melon, hand oranges and cucumbers as seen by Supermarktscanner.nl.

The price of avocado is stable and at all retailers it is between 1.19 euros (the lowest at Dirk) and just under 1.50 euros (the regular price at PLUS, due to an offer, PLUS keeps the average price over the last 5 weeks at 1.25 euros).

The supermarkets followed almost agree on the cauliflower price. Only PLUS has a higher price of 2.99 euros per piece. The other 5 supermarket formulas charge 2.49 euros (Dirk, Hoogvliet, Dekamarkt) or 2.59 euros (Albert Heijn, Jumbo).

Albert Heijn has an offer on Galia melon for the fifth time this year, and Galia is sometimes a promotional product for PLUS. The other supermarkets keep the price stable. The cheapest is at Dirk and costs 2.49 euros per piece, the most expensive is at Dekamarkt and costs 2.79 per piece.

Albert Heijn and Dirk have an offer with 2 kg of hand oranges, at AH they keep the round price of 2.50 euros per net. Dirk’s price is 2.49 euros and is the cheapest provider. At Jumbo, Hoogvliet, Plus and Dekamarkt a net costs between 3.19 euros and 3.29 euros.

Most retailers also seem to agree on the price of cucumbers. PLUS, AH, Hoogvliet and Jumbo reduce the fixed price to 0.95 euro cents each. Dirk has been using the fixed price of 0.79 euro cents per piece since week 10. Dekamarkt sets the new fixed price at 0.89 euro cents per piece.
Price and quality
Price data comes from Supermarktscanner.nl and is based on the online prices in the web stores of Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, Dekamarkt, Dirk and Hoogvliet. The price is an average, including the promotions. Origin and quality are not included in this price comparison. Most supermarkets do not mention this information on their website, Hoogvliet and Jumbo mention the country of origin. The price comparison above may compare unripe avocados with ripe ones and Spanish cucumbers with Dutch ones.
