The controversy surrounding ‘Helldivers 2’ is reminiscent of a recent, similar discussion between gamers and the makers of the tactical war game ‘Escape from Tarkov’.

A new edition of the game costs no less than 250 euros. A hefty price tag, but the community couldn’t laugh at the fact that people who bought a previous edition that promised they would get all future downloadable packs for free also have to pay for this new edition.

What further caused bad blood was that gamers who buy the new package will receive many advantages over their opponents who do not. This so-called ‘pay-to-win’ principle is not new, but is generally not welcomed.

Battlestate Games apologized and offered a solution, but the damage was done and the trust was gone.
