Lux (9) holds the ball high 10,000 times and raises 135,000 euros for Gaza

Lux came up with the idea for the campaign together with his father Collin. The war in Gaza made the 9-year-old very sad, says Collin. “We found him crying on the bed. He doesn’t talk much about his feelings, but after a while it came out that he felt so sorry for the children in Gaza, that they no longer have mom and dad and may never be able to play football again. “

That’s why Lux wanted to raise money by, among other things, collecting empty bottles in the neighborhood, just for a job. But, his father said, he could also start raising money. Because that’s what he’s good at: last year, as an 8-year-old, he set a world record by holding the ball high 10,000 times. Never again, Lux thought afterwards, but he was happy to make an exception for the children in Gaza.

Contact Touzani

Father Collin then decided to call in a friend who knows the famous street football player Soufiane Touzani. “He is super busy, but is very committed to social causes,” says Collin. “He immediately said that he wanted to set up the campaign together with Lux.”

So it happened. In a live broadcast on Touzani’s YouTube channel, Lux managed to keep the ball high about 10,005 times. He broke his previous record and raised a lot of money. The target amount was 100,000 euros, but the counter now stands at more than 135,000.

“It’s bizarre that it has gone through the roof like this,” says Collin. “Lux has no idea about money yet, but he thinks: what a nice amount, we have achieved the target amount.”

In addition, there was a nice bonus for Lux: he was able to collaborate with Touzani. “He loved it and could hardly believe it. Touzani is one of his idols.”

Founding

The money raised by Lux goes to the Alkhattab Foundation, a foundation that sets up projects worldwide for people in need. “The foundation is directly concerned with the situation in Gaza and also has people there. So the money goes directly there.”

With his campaign, Lux also hopes to inspire other children to raise money in any way for people who are having a hard time, for example in Gaza. Lux himself has completely achieved his goal and is done with upholding for the time being. He will now focus on a season with the AZ youth team. “But we do teach him that he must always remain socially involved.”
