Princess Margarita has become patron of Trees for All, a foundation that promotes the planting of trees and forests worldwide. The princess hopes that her role will make people aware of the importance of trees. “As a nature lover, I worry a lot about our future when I see how much nature has disappeared,” she says in an interview on the foundation’s website.

According to the 51-year-old princess, planting trees is a “very concrete way to change that”. She therefore wants to motivate as many people as possible to plant trees through Trees for All. Princess Irene’s daughter will also support various Trees for All projects with her company De Parme Design, with which she designs jewelry and interior objects.

Initially, Margarita will support two projects in the Netherlands and Spain. “The fact that I can do this in two countries where my roots lie makes the collaboration extra special,” said the princess. “I hope to be able to support many more projects in Europe in the future. Because the more trees we can all plant, the better.”
