Attila Valter has confronted Thomas De Gendt about a joke the Belgian made about him on social media. The Lotto Dstny driver watched the Giro d’Italia on Wednesday and saw Valter fall. He also made the pun ‘Who falls’, but the Hungarian champion of Visma | Don’t laugh at Lease a Bike.
First Valter responded with a questioning smiley to De Gendt’s X-message (formerly Twitter). “It’s about a joke with your name. Your Dutch teammates will explain it,” the experienced Flemish responded. However, Valter didn’t find it really funny. He responded succinctly: “They explained it. I do not like it.”
Thomas De Gendt then decided not to delete his message after Valter’s response. “It’s a difference of taste, don’t worry,” he said.
Visma | Lease a Bike has not yet announced anything. The Hungarian ultimately crossed the finish line in Lucca more than ten minutes behind the peloton, dropping to 61st place in the general classification of the Giro d’Italia.
