Candid Thibau Nys admits that he sometimes suffers from paranoia: “I once didn’t kiss my girlfriend for a week”

“I only pee in my pants when it rains very hard,” said a candid Thibau Nys in the podcast Gossip Guy where he was a guest. The cyclist clearly had a good time and mainly talked about his life outside of cycling.

A bizarre moment in the popular podcast Gossip Guy when the presenter asks guest Thibau Nys if he has ever used doping. “What the fuck?”, the rider responds to the unfortunate question with a laugh. “I am baptized, yes.”

When he receives hair removal cream for his legs as a gift, Nys immediately looks at the packaging. “This is really professional deformity, immediately check whether this is allowed. Who knows, it may contain banned products. For example, nasal spray is not allowed. Recently my girlfriend had… (the Dutch Anna Eikendal, ed.) suffered from a cold sore above her lip and she had to apply cortisone ointment there. I didn’t kiss her for a week then. I was a bit afraid of that, sometimes I am a bit paranoid.”

The Lidl-Trek rider also appears to be a big fan of FC De Kampioenen. “I’m not proud of that, but I’m certainly not ashamed of it either. Watching FC De Kampioenen gives me a very relaxed feeling. It feels like coming home. I think I’ve seen every episode maybe 30 or 35 times and I’m even in a chat group with other famous fans like Niels Destadsbader, Guga Baúl and Conner Rousseau.”

Occasionally it was also about cycling itself. “Sometimes it sucks to ride with Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel in a generation. Although I am also honored to be able to drive among them. Their achievements have never been seen before. It’s also really cool sometimes.”

And Nys was also open about other things. “I only pee my pants when it rains very hard,” he laughed, for example. “Really and truly. Otherwise it’s really difficult. I once had to pee very urgently in the final of a match, but peeing your own pants is really not that simple.”
