Club Brugge has been hoping for years to start building a new football temple. Will there finally be some progress in the matter soon?
The first environmental permit for the project on the Olympia site was recently definitively annulled. Not to fear, however, because in anticipation of this, Blauw-Zwart has already submitted a new application with an amended file.
Club receives favorable advice
Since the objections of some local residents are taken into account more, the chance of success appears to be greater this time. Flemish Environment Minister Zuhal Demir confirmed this on Tuesday afternoon in the Flemish Parliament.
“The advice from the Regional Environmental Permit Committee is conditionally favorable. We are now thoroughly studying those advices. We prefer to make a decision as soon as possible,” she is quoted by The last news.
Start of construction works?
“Such a permit can also be implemented immediately after the decision, which is also good news. It is then up to the club to consider when they will start the work,” continues Demir, who has been working for Jan Breydel 2.0 since 2021.
News will probably not take long. “This file has been going on for a long time. I hope to make a decision one of the coming weeks. It will certainly be before the month of May,” the minister concludes. Bart Verhaeghe is already crossing his fingers.
