After a meager one in nine away from home, Anderlecht hopes to gain points on the field of title rival Union on Sunday. Brian Riemer is counting on good news from the infirmary, but he may have to change his guns anyway.

The Purple & White hopes to be able to call on Kasper Schmeichel, Anders Dreyer and Yari Verschaeren again in the Duden Park. Given the particularly poor level against Cercle Brugge, the return of the latter duo could provide significant added value in an attacking sense.

Dolberg as number 10?

In the case of Verschaeren, a starting place seems to have come too early anyway. The question then is who will take over as playmaker this time. Riemer chose Théo Leoni against the Association, but that did not really work out as desired. The newspapaer expect him to move to the bank.

RSCA watcher Jürgen Geril even puts forward a striking alternative in one fell swoop. “It is not the ideal time to try something out, but I would put Kasper Dolberg in the number 10 position behind Luis Vazquez. A bit like Vincent Janssen at Antwerp,” he suggests.

Chance for Ashimeru?

On Sunday in Bruges, Riemer already brought his two strikers together at the kick-off, with Dolberg then moving to the right. “Riemer will definitely have to change his midfield at Union on Sunday,” Geril added. After his good substitute appearances, he also hints at a starting place for Majeed Ashimeru.

A trio with him plus Mats Rits and Thomas Delaney is in danger of falling short in terms of football. So we’ll have to wait and see whether Dolberg drops a row because of that. If Dreyer is patched up in time, Mario Stroeykens can also simply move to the center again. So I wonder which option Riemer will opt for.
