Cercle Brugge is the revelation of this season. They made it to the Champions’ Playoffs with a very recognizable style. In that environment, Kévin Denkey, the striker who has already scored 26 times this season, flourishes.

Cercle will cash in for the top scorer of the Jupiler Pro League this summer. They hope to guide the Togolese to a top competition.

“We are now in the phase where files from the head scout end up on the desk of the technical director for all teams,” says Rembert Vromant, technical director of Cercle, in HLN. “The decisions are being made: who do we go for? Well, in England, Germany and France, teams want to go for Denkey.”

Vromant is aiming high, perhaps more than 15 million. “We are not committing ourselves to an asking price. We are also not going to emulate Club. They already have a solid reputation on the transfer market. We are still building that reputation.”

“But look at the transfer amounts that have been paid for strikers in Belgium in recent years. Paul Onuachu (18 million, ed.), Jonathan David (31 million, ed.),… We want to go in that direction.”

Vromant does not think that Cercle’s status is a problem. “Small Association? We shouldn’t think like that. I turn the question around: who thought we would play Champions’ Playoffs? We hear who calls us for Denkey, with amounts that sound very nice. We can aim high.”
