Giro 2024: UAE Emirates with top favorite Tadej Pogacar, lots of helpers and a sprinter

UAE Emirates has announced which riders will assist Tadej Pogacar in the Giro d’Italia. In his hunt for the pink, the Slovenian can count on Rafal Majka, Felix Großschartner and Domen Novak, among others. With Juan Sebastian Molano, UAE also brings a sprinter to the starting line-up.

Pogacar, who is making his debut in the Giro d’Italia, is considered a huge favorite for the overall victory. The two-time Tour winner has already won Strade Bianche, the Tour of Catalonia and Liège-Bastogne-Liège this year – each time in impressive fashion. Now he is ready for the Tour of Italy.

“The preparation for the Giro went very well,” says Pogacar on the UAE Emirates website. “I haven’t raced too much so far this year, only ten days, so I still feel fresh and ready for my first Giro. It is a race that I have dreamed of for a long time and it feels like the right time to go for it.”

“As an amateur, I raced a lot in Italy,” the Slovenian said, referring to the 2017 and 2018 seasons, when he was active at Continental level. “It’s one of my favorite places to cycle. I also like the culture and of course the good food. I hope I can make it a special month. My goal is of course the general classification. With Molano we also have someone for the sprints and we have a very strong team in general. I can’t wait for the start.”
