In Brescia (Italy) Jente Hauttekeete won the highly regarded decathlon Multistars. Our compatriot totaled 8,020 points and thus made a nice jump in the Olympic qualification ranking.

Last year, 22-year-old Jente Hauttekeete was the 5th Belgian decathlete ever to reach the 8,000 points mark.

This weekend he did that trick again.

In the prestigious Multistars, Hauttekeete opened well with 11.06 in the 100 meters. On the second day he set his personal record in the javelin throw to 56.04 meters.

With 8,020 points, Hauttekeete remains not far below his personal record, which has stood at 8,075 points since last year.

But more importantly: this victory gives Hauttekeete 80 bonus points for the Olympic qualifying ranking.

There he was 29th before the start of this decathlon, the top 24 can go to Paris. When the new ranking is published, Hauttekeete will more than likely enter the top 24.
