The first semi-final between Zulte Waregem and SK Lommel was scheduled for Saturday evening. Strongman Jelle Vossen failed to put the sheep on dry land for the West Flemish.
Division of points at half time
Zulte Waregem started strongly with an early chance for Ndour, but his shot on target was parried by De Busser. Lommel then took over the initiative, with chances for Rosa and Vancsa, while De Wolf remained alert under the crossbar. At the end of the first half, Essevee finally seemed to take the lead after a Machado header, but VAR intervened and found that the ball went into the goal via Ndour’s hand. At halftime it was still 0-0.
In the second half, both teams looked for at least one goal as a bonus for the second leg. Essevee pushed the most and was unlucky when an attempt by Nnadi via De Busser and the post did not lead to a goal. Midway through the second half, the home side received help from the visitors when Granell made hands and a penalty was awarded. Jelle Vossen provided the redeeming goal from the spot: 1-0.
Fair draw
Zulte Waregem seemed to take that small lead into the second leg, until Dermane surprised the home crowd with a beautiful shot into the far corner in the final phase: 1-1. In the remaining minutes, Vossen missed another big chance, resulting in the match ending in a draw.
