Cercle Brugge is having a very good season. The Association managed to get into the top six and can therefore compete in the Champions’ Play-Off, where it performed well with a score of five out of fifteen. However, one man did not enjoy Cercle’s successful year.

Last summer, Thomas Didillon returned to Cercle after a season on loan at parent club AS Monaco, but since then the 28-year-old goalkeeper has completely disappeared from the picture. He was immediately told that he would not be counted on – Cercle fully opted for Warleson in the summer.

Cercle was unable to get rid of Didillon

La Dernière Heure know that Didillon has been maintaining his fitness all season with Jong Cercle, which plays in the second national team. However, he did not play any matches there. In the last fourteen months, Didillon has played barely one official match. After all, he was a reserve goalkeeper at Monaco last season and had already missed several months at Cercle due to a broken finger.

Didillon’s situation is highly remarkable, because the Frenchman has a solid track record with a past at Anderlecht and KRC Genk. However, he has not found shelter with another team in recent months. There were offers, but Didillon did not want to compromise on the princely salary that Cercle offered him in 2020.

However, Didillon’s contract with Cercle ends at the end of June and then the long-awaited divorce will happen. According to LDH, the goalkeeper already knows where he wants to work. He would have set his sights on a club in the Eredivisie, because Didillon has a Dutch girlfriend.

Then he will undoubtedly have to give up, because the question is which clubs will be interested in a goalkeeper who has not played for almost 2.5 seasons. In any case, it will be a farewell through the back gate for Didillon after a long period in Belgium.
