KRC Genk lost 4-0 to Club Brugge on Wednesday. A big setback, especially considering the good form the Limburgers were in. Another game against blue-black awaits on Sunday.

Coach Wouter Vrancken saw that it was not good. He held individual conversations with his players. “Because then you get less one-way traffic than in a group conversation,” he begins at Het Belang van Limburg.

“I felt a lot of commitment from the players, and a great realization that we were literally behind the times. We did not win any duels, were not accurate on the ball and made too few runs.”

“In the end, the physical parameters were not too bad, but we had to make longer and avoidable efforts, because we did not help each other and could never really apply pressure,” Vrancken continues.

He knows that his players must and want to do better on Sunday. “I think revenge is too negative a word, because it is often linked to the opponents. We mainly want to recover as sportsmen and do much better than on Wednesday,” he warns Club.

The game system he has been playing with since the start of the play-offs will not be adjusted. “I don’t think you should throw everything in the trash after one bad performance.”
