Marc Coucke had a wonderful weekend with Anderlecht. On Saturday, the Purple & White won with the smallest difference against a ten-man Antwerp, yesterday saw its major competitor Union lose in the Cegeka Arena. But the Lotto Park received some fantastic news.

National title as a major stunt?

Would it work after all? After years of doom and gloom, Anderlecht actually has its fate in its own hands towards a new national title. It is equal on points with Union, although the Brussels rival still has the advantage (due to the halving of the points).

The enthusiasm is already radiating from the stands and that has been different in recent seasons. When Coucke was appointed and in the years that followed, there was a lot of protest and the atmosphere was often extremely grim.

Will Coucke take another sledgehammer blow?

That has now been completely reversed and Coucke also knows how to translate the energy on the field off the field. The entrepreneur has been exercising intensively for months, together with a renowned personal trainer.

Boxing in particular has become a new passion for Coucke and he recently surprised with the announcement of the ‘BK Boxing for people over 60’. He will soon compete against Belgian boxing legend Freddy De Kerpel. So the Anderlecht audience still has something to look forward to, or was it mainly a successful April Fool’s joke?
