Max Verstappen had a disappointing Australian Grand Prix. He dropped out early with braking problems and he was disappointed about that. When he parked his car in the pit lane, he complained that something was ‘fucking stupid’. Afterwards he explained what exactly this was about.

Verstappen started the race at the Albert Park circuit on pole position. He got off to a good start, but then things went completely wrong. He went a little too wide, allowing Carlos Sainz to overtake him and then it quickly became clear that something was going on. His rear brake was on fire and the part even exploded. Verstappen brought his car back to the pit lane where he announced that something was ‘fucking stupid’.

It was not entirely clear what was so stupid according to Verstappen. It was also not clear who exactly he was referring to with this comment. After his very short race, he explained his words to the international media. It wasn’t all that bad: “That had to do with the fact that the team was simply doing a pit stop, while the car was on fire. I really thought ‘what are we doing?’. That’s all neither, by the way.”
