Ida Ann (48) who pulled down the ‘too short’ mini skirt of a girl (19), arrested for sex offences: “But everyone applauded” | Bizarre

Let’s rewind to April 20. Several young women sit in the lobby of the Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in St. George, Utah. They are approached by Ida Ann Lorenzo (48) from Santa Clara, who reprimands one of them for saying that her skirt is too short. She tells the 19-year-old that she will call child protection if she sees her butt hanging out again, as you can see in the images above.

The discussion went viral, but it didn’t stop at words. Lorenzo also pulled down the girl’s skirt and grabbed her side. The young woman did not leave it at that, after which Lorenzo was arrested. She is charged with “sexual battery,” which in the US generally refers to “non-consensual sexual contact or touching someone’s intimate parts (clothed or unclothed) without the consent or against the will of the victim.”

In bodycam footage of her arrest that news medium ABC4 obtained, you can hear how Lorenzo wants to continue to prove her point. She says she was sitting in the busy lobby when she could see “the girl’s entire (vagina) and buttocks” because her skirt was so short. She also states that a boy of about ten years old also pointed to the girl’s exposed body.

The woman states that she first approached the teenager to tell her what others could see, but was rebuffed. She says she then stood behind the girl and pulled down her skirt, but notes that she did not touch her skin.

The woman spent hours calling investigators in the aftermath of the incident. In one of those conversations she claims that she had to do something because there were children present. “Everyone behind me applauded,” he said. When asked why she did not call the police, she answers that it would take too long for someone to arrive on the scene. When an officer tells her that the skirt “wasn’t her responsibility,” she again says that she “got a standing ovation from everyone behind them” when she pulled down the skirt.

When the images go viral, Lorenzo calls the officers again because she is concerned about being charged with sexual offenses. She says she receives threatening messages online, including one in which someone hopes she has been fired. During the confrontation with the girls and on the bodycam footage of the officers, you can hear how she says that she works for the state, although it is not entirely clear whether that is correct and what her job exactly is.

The police bodycam footage also shows a conversation with the victim. She tells how she was shocked when “she felt someone’s cold hands against her skin” and it turned out to be Lorenzo pulling down her skirt. The teen says she felt violated and insecure about her body. She says that Lorenzo did not talk to her beforehand, something her friends agree with. And since she was wearing underwear that night, it was especially unlikely that her private parts were visible at any time.

During the conversations with Lorenzo, the detective repeatedly explains that her act was potentially criminal, even if she only touched the clothing around the teen’s private parts. “There was no incident. You created it,” he says at one point. “These are all the consequences of your actions.” The woman also looks shocked when an officer says she is being taken into custody. “Are you picking me up?” she says in surprise.

Lorenzo has been released on bail and will appear in court in June.
