The villa of the Flemish couple Laura Trappeniers (66) and Marc Olbrechts (71) on Tenerife was equipped with an alarm. The system is said to have gone off one evening at 9:30 PM during the period when they disappeared. This is what a source told RTL Info. According to the same source, surveillance images from neighbors across the street showed a man entering their house at 1 a.m. He then left in a cart. However, that information has not yet been confirmed to our editors. The video is said to be of poor quality, making it impossible to recognize the color or make of the vehicle.

It was previously reported that nothing was stolen from their home in Callao Salvaje: their mobile phones, computers and wallets were found there. The police also investigated the property they wanted to rent out, and no traces of violence were found at that location either.

There is currently no trace of Marc Olbrechts himself. The man and his wife were reported missing on Wednesday, April 24. Friends last saw them on Monday, April 22.

Laura Trappeniers was found six days later by a local fisherman off the coast of Arico, on the east side of the island. Her body was badly mutilated. The woman was missing both legs and a hand. A yellow plastic bag was tied over her head.

Mutilated

The place where the woman was found is more than fifty kilometers away from Callao Salvaje, a peaceful village on the south side of Tenerife where Laura and Marc came to live sixteen years ago. They bought a small villa with a swimming pool. Every two to three months they returned to Belgium to visit family. About five years ago the couple also bought a second, adjacent villa.

Bad feeling

Friends and neighbors of the couple previously stated that shortly before her disappearance, Laura had contact with a man of Eastern European origin who wanted to stay in their rental house for a short time. Laura told a friend during yoga that she had a bad feeling about that conversation. The rental would not have gone ahead.

Acquaintances of the couple found their Opel Mokka with Spanish license plate near their villa last weekend. According to our information, the car was not locked. Items of clothing, sunglasses and a knife were found inside.
