The incident took place near the Hainault metro station. The images show how an officer tries to approach the perpetrator with the necessary caution. One of the victims is now lying on the ground.

It took another 22 minutes from the first call before the man could be overpowered. This was done with the help of a taser.

Officers operated

“Just before 7 a.m. we received a call that a car had crashed into a house. Then followed the stabbing. The man targeted two police officers and some random passers-by,” the police said. Five injured people were taken to hospital.

It has now become clear that a 13-year-old boy did not make it. The officers had to undergo surgery, but their injuries are not in danger. The entire neighborhood was cordoned off and the metro station is closed indefinitely.

“I can’t get that image out of my head”

Local residents tell how they were woken up by the screams in the street. “A neighbor had his mobile phone pressed into her hand. She had to tell his interlocutor their precise location,” said James Fernando. “Fortunately, she immediately realized that something was wrong and she ran away. Then he suddenly pulled out that sword from the back of his pants.”

“The woman tried to warn a Nigerian boy who was on his way to school. When he turned around, he was stabbed in the face. I can no longer get that traumatizing image out of my head.”

“Guy covered in blood”

“I saw a guy covered in blood,” Daniel Garfinkle continued. “The police tried to calm the perpetrator, but he continued towards the metro station. He also kept shouting.”
