President Joe Biden: “I’m a grown man taking on a six-year-old” | US presidential election

Hundreds of people took action at the Washington Hilton hotel following the dinner. They chanted slogans about the deaths of reporters in the Gaza Strip and called on journalists present to boycott the event. Biden avoided the protests and entered the building from the rear. He was met there by a smaller group of demonstrators calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Biden mentioned, among other things, his age during his speech. “Yes, age is a problem. I’m a grown man taking on a six-year-old,” he joked. “Age is the only thing we have in common. My vice president supports me.” For example, he referred to the refusal of Trump’s then Vice President Mike Pence to publicly support the 77-year-old Republican presidential candidate for the November elections.

Trump’s criminal case about the possible payment of hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels was also discussed. “Donald has had some tough days. You can even speak of ‘Stormy Weather’.”

During his speech, Biden also “sincerely” called on the press not to take sides. “I ask you to understand the seriousness of the moment.” In his view, journalists should not be guided by side issues that have come to dominate politics. “Focus on what’s really at stake.” Biden cited “Trump’s attack on our democracy,” according to American media, and called for contributing to the survival of democracy.
