The Flemish Regulator for the Media (VRM), the independent regulator for the Flemish audiovisual media, has warned singer Natalia and influencer Gaetan Likile after violations of the Media Decree. The regional broadcasters Focus, WTV, AVS and TVL will receive a fine.

Between January 8 and 22, the VRM checked the online videos of content creators Natalia Druyts and Gaetan Likile, known from Temptation Island. It was found that several of their videos did not clearly indicate that they were advertising a specific product, which is mandatory according to the Media Decree.

Since the regulations are fairly new for content creators, the VRM will limit it to a warning for the time being. Previously, influencers Nena Schuurmans, Sam van Denderen, Astrid Coppens, Average Rob and Kim Van Oncen also received such a warning from the regulator.

The regional broadcasters Focus, WTV and AVS also violated the rules of the Media Decree during an inspection that took place on November 12. For example, there would have been advertising reports that were not clearly recognizable as such and various sponsorship reports that contained a clear promotional element. The VRM therefore decided to impose a fine of 1,500 euros on Focus and WTV. AVS must pay 3,000 euros.

TVL was also exposed after sponsors were broadcast for online games of chance in the sports program ‘Score’. However, these were contrary to the Royal Decree on gambling advertising. The Limburg channel will therefore receive a fine of 1,500 euros.
