Cristiano Ronaldo puts ‘wall beam’ on display, after which ‘CR7’ progresses to second hat-trick in 72 hours | Foreign Football

Cristiano Ronaldo is shooting sharply in the Saudi Pro League. The 39-year-old Portuguese scored a hat-trick for Al-Nassr in the match against Al-Ta’ee on Saturday and did it again last night. Against Abha he only needed one half to score three times.

As usual, Ronaldo claimed the free kicks and this time he did so successfully.

He was able to outwit Abha keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu (ex-AC Milan) in both the 11th and 21st minutes. During the first free kick, a home team player, Mohammed Al Kunaydiri, lay behind the wall to prevent Ronaldo from attempting a low shot. And that is precisely what Ronaldo ultimately did successfully. Painful for Al Kunaydiri, cunning for Ronaldo. ‘CR7’ then aimed the ball under a teammate of the winger and benefited from mediocre goalkeeping by Tatarusanu.

Three minutes before half-time, the Portuguese international completed his hat-trick, before also providing an assist for his team’s fifth goal.

Ronaldo did not get the chance to increase his total in the second half, as coach Luis Castro decided to give his player a rest and leave him in the dressing room halfway through. Even without the Portuguese veteran, Al-Nassr proved to be far too strong for the home team. The match ended 0-8, partly due to a goal by former Liverpool star Sadio Mané.

Thanks to his two hat-tricks in four days, Ronaldo seems to be well on his way to becoming the top scorer of the Saudi Pro League again. After 24 games, the counter stands at 29 goals (and eleven assists). Former Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic (22 goals) follows at an appropriate distance.
