Jinnih Beels, councilor for education and youth for Vooruit in the Antwerp city council, hopes that Conner Rousseau will return to politics. She said that on VTM News.
Vooruit must submit its electoral lists for the June 9 elections by April 13 at the latest. It is still unknown whether former chairman Conner Rousseau will appear on the list of candidates for the Flemish elections.
He resigned from the Flemish parliament in November after his racist and misogynistic statements. In VTM News, Jinnih Beels said that she hopes Rousseau will stand as a candidate. “The party needs him,” she said.
After Rousseau’s departure from politics, Vooruit systematically declined in the polls.
Earlier this week, Beels announced that she will no longer participate in the municipal elections in October. She does not feel fully supported by the Antwerp department of Voouit. Beels has a conflict with Tom Meeuws, who previously resigned as alderman.
Beels will draw the list for the election of the Flemish parliament on June 9.
