Earlier this year, Will Smith was not doing very well with the media. The actor was (rightly or wrongly) slammed after he punched comedian Chris Rock for making a joke at the expense of Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Several months later and a lot of apologies from Smith, the big studios are looking at how they can breathe new life into the projects with the Oscar winner. There is news about the films Emancipation and Brilliance.
Emancipation coming soon to Apple TV+?
Jeff Sneider of The Ankler now reports that Apple TV+ plans to release director Antoine Fuqua and Smith’s film Emancipation in early December. Previously, the film was postponed to 2023, but now the bosses at Apple seem to hope that the film can still compete for the necessary film prizes.
Brilliance finds Marvel director
Brilliance has found a director in Deadline, according to Deadline Ms. marveldirector Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It is still unclear whether Smith will appear in the film, but he is a producer.
The film is reportedly a passion project of Smith and writer/producer Akiva Goldsman and has been in development since 2014.
