One month before the highly anticipated release on Disney+, the streaming service has shared a new trailer for The Acolyte. The trailer promises a very exciting series.
It Star Warsuniverse moved to Disney+ with the series a few years ago The Mandalorian. That became an immediate success and many other spin-offs followed. Consider this, for example The Book of Boba Fett, Obi Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rangers of the New Republic, Ahsoka and much more. The Acolyte will be the next series on Disney+ next summer. The series will now also be released on June 5 with two episodes.
Jedi Masters
The Acolyte tells the story of a crime wave against Jedi Masters. As a result, a highly respected Jedi Master, played by Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), turned to a Jedi Knight, played by Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games) to turn off. However, the two have a past together. As more clues come to light, the two enter a dark path where sinister forces lurk and where appearances can be deceiving.
In addition to Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae, the cast of The Acolyte also includes Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Margarita Levieva and Joonas Suatamo.
The series is by Leslye Headland, who is best known for the acclaimed series Russian Doll and as director of the films Bachelorette and Sleeping With Other People. According to Variety even describes them The Acolyte as “a cross between Frozen and Kill Bill from the bad guys’ perspective.” She cites samurai films as a source of inspiration.
