Jim Carrey is perhaps one of the greatest and most beloved actors in all of Hollywood. He has starred in many famous films such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Truman Show and The Mask. Most recently, the actor starred in the life-action film adaptations of the hit game series Sonic.

But with so many good films you can’t always score well. For example, Jim Carrey played the lead role in a Polish-American film in 2018. This thriller did very poorly and even has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 0%. It can’t be any lower.

Dark Crimes with Jim Carrey

Dark Crimes with Jim Carrey is a thriller from 2018. The film is based on a true story. Namely on an article from The New Yorker from 2008 called; True Crime: A Postmodern Murder Mystery. Before its re-release in 2018, the film was titled True Crimes.

Jim Carrey takes over Dark Crimes takes on the role of Tadek, a Polish detective. Tadek tries to solve the murder of a businessman. But to his surprise, the case is identical to a recently published book about a murder. Although many thought the businessman’s case was closed, Tadek chooses to investigate the dark secret.

Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes

Although the film sounds quite interesting on paper, the execution was clearly less positive. Dark Crimes has a terribly low score of 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Even the audience score cannot save the film, which is 30 percent.

It’s not often that a film scores so low on Rotten Tomatoes, especially with a star actor like Jim Carrey in the lead role. Critics describe Dark Crimes as a non-credible film with zero positive qualities. Someone from the home audience simply describes the film as “Painful, gloomy, boring and terrible”.
