It is still far from clear what exactly happened and how the gruesome facts surrounding the gang rape in the Kabouterbos in Kortrijk could happen. The teenagers who were arrested contradict each other in their interrogations. The main suspect, the boyfriend of the 14-year-old victim, denies that he ‘lent’ his sweetheart. “That he would have acted as a kind of lover boy is not correct at all,” says his lawyer Nur Demirtas. The boy is currently staying in a closed institution.

The 14-year-old girl, who does not live in Kortrijk, went to the Kabouterbos in Kortrijk three times during the Easter holidays with her boyfriend (14). The girl thought she was only there for some intimacy with him, but nothing could be further from the truth. Numerous other young people, all between 11 and 16 years old, also showed up. Powerless due to the excess of boys, the girl was forced to have sex with them. While that was happening, at least one other youth was on the lookout. Others then filmed what happened. However, it didn’t stop at that one time. On two other days during the Easter holidays, the girl was abused several times again, each time in the Kabouterbos.

He is also someone who behaves himself and sticks to the rules at home. These facts are a particularly heavy blow for his parents

The victim’s boyfriend allegedly acted as someone who ‘loaned’ his sweetheart. But his lawyer Nur Demirtas strongly denies this. “That’s just not true,” she says. “My client formally denies that.” It is not yet clear exactly how everything worked. “The statements of the various suspects contradict each other. That is why further research needs to be done.”

The teenager, a 14-year-old boy from Kortrijk, has been staying in a closed institution since the end of April. “That is very difficult for him,” his lawyer continues. “Never before has he ended up in such an institution. He is very affected by what is happening. In the institution he behaves and follows the rules. But also at home he is someone who always behaved correctly and there were never any major problems with him. These facts are a particularly heavy blow for his parents.”

A teenage pimp or lover boy is a human trafficker who has control over his victim. It is usually a young man who seduces underage girls or women and forces them into prostitution or other illegal activities. The pimp tries to isolate the victim so that he or she is completely dependent on him and can no longer count on anyone else. A teenage pimp develops a romantic relationship with the victim, which quickly turns into a relationship of emotional and psychological abuse. (Source: Department of Healthcare)
