South edge

Organizers of festivals, street, school and neighborhood parties, socio-cultural events or catering operators who book an artist from the southern edge of Antwerp can apply for a mini-subsidy from the Zuidrand Cultural Region.

Zuidrand Cultural Region is launching this new subsidy to make it easier to program local talent and to put it in the spotlight. A condition is that both the organizer and the local talent fall within the working area of the Zuidrand Cultural Region, which is the municipalities of Aartselaar, Borsbeek, Edegem, Hove, Kontich, Lint and Mortsel.

“In recent years we have focused on supporting local talent in our region. We identified the needs with the Zuidrand pop council in 2023 for musical talent, brainstorming sessions during our Mix & Match sessions with visual and other artists and recently with our Talent Café networking chats. It emerged, among other things, that local talent wants more playing opportunities in their own region. With this mini-subsidy we try to convince local organizers to give more space to local talent,” explains Stefan Beeldens of Cultuurregio Zuidrand.

Talent bank

Local organizers can be, for example, socio-cultural associations, district and neighborhood committees, schools, local catering establishments, private organizers and municipal services. They can look for a suitable artist on the talent bank, which currently brings together more than eighty musicians, DJs and painters. You can apply for the subsidy up to one month before the start of the activity.

The subsidy amounts to a maximum of eighty percent of the amount for the artists, with a maximum of 40 euros per person or 150 euros per ensemble. The Zuidrand Cultural Region will further publicize the activity. (fisp)

Info: the complete subsidy regulations can be found on the website of the Zuidrand Regional Association.
