A house on the Leyssenhofweg has been declared uninhabitable after the serious fire that raged just before midnight on Monday. The resident of the house was taken to hospital as a precaution. The man had inhaled a lot of smoke.
Just after 11 p.m. on Monday, the emergency services received a report of the fire. When the firefighters from the North Limburg Emergency Zone arrived, half the kitchen was already ablaze. The resident was woken up by a bang. When he went to look, the house filled with smoke from the kitchen. The man dragged some things out but could do little else.
It is unclear how the fire started. A technical defect in one of the devices cannot be ruled out. The damage to the house is extensive. The kitchen is completely destroyed and there is a lot of smoke damage in the rest of the house. The firefighters worked for several hours to clear the house of smoke and then check whether the fire had spread through the wooden ceiling. Because the damage was so extensive, the house was declared uninhabitable.
After a check, the resident was allowed to leave the hospital. He can stay with his parents for the time being.(mm/gvb)
